2007 Waddle and Saddle

Waddle and saddle

The aim of the annual Waddle and Saddle is to raise awareness of the natural beauty of the Condamine River at Cambanoora Gorge. This year, the third annual Waddle and Saddle attracted around 120 people on foot, horseback and bicycles.

Organiser Paul Stumkat said one of the aims of this event was to replace the focus of four‐wheel driving, allowing people the chance to appreciate the natural wonder that is the Gorge. Member for Southern Downs Lawrence Springborg officially opened the day in which walkers and riders have the opportunity to follow and cross the Condamine River 14 times, without the noise and speed of doing so in a vehicle.

"Most people did the 20km walk in about three and a half hours, but I think Lawrence did it in two hours"” Mr Stumkat said.

The number of participants is steadily rising, roughly doubling each year since the inaugural Cambanoora Waddle and Saddle in 2005.
